About

A public board where position is bought outright and anyone can oust anyone. One ordering scale, one ledger, nothing hidden.

The idea

Most places that rank products hide the mechanism. Votes are gamed, editorial picks are opaque, and the ad slot marked “sponsored” tells you someone paid without ever telling you how much. This board removes the pretence. The number beside a listing is the money behind it, and anyone can read the whole ladder.

That makes it useful in two directions. A buyer gets attention priced transparently instead of auctioned through a black box. Everyone else gets an honest read on which products have conviction behind them this week.

Why it does not freeze

A pay-to-rank board has one predictable failure. The top gets bought, the buyers stop bidding, and the ladder turns into a monument nobody bothers ousting. Everything below the fold goes quiet because there is nothing left to contest.

Heat is the answer to that. Every payment halves in value every 30 days, so the top of the board becomes reachable again on a schedule everyone can see. A listing shows both what it has spent and what that spend is currently worth, along with the date its rank is projected to fall. Nothing is hidden, and nothing stays won by standing still.

One scale, one ledger

Ranks are set in naira. A ladder needs a single ordering scale or it is not a ladder, and comparing two listings priced in different currencies would mean re-ranking the whole board every time an exchange rate moved. Anyone paying in another currency is charged at a rate locked onto their payment at checkout, and the rank they buy is the naira figure that settles.

Who can pay is a question about the processor, not about the board. We settle through Paystack today, which is why cards issued in some countries will not go through. That is a limit of the current integration and nothing about the ranking depends on it.

What we do not do

No ads, no revenue share, no API keys to buy, and no algorithm deciding who deserves visibility. There is no way to rank without paying, and no amount of paying buys anything other than a position. Editorial standing is not for sale here because there is no editorial.

Who builds this

Oust is built by Uphiva, a membership community for African founders and professionals. It is one of twelve products the group runs, and they are not a portfolio of unrelated bets: every one sells to the same person, an African founder or professional building an income, often across more than one currency.

They share more than an owner. A product launched here reaches the Uphiva membership before it reaches anyone else, and Kampe already carries Sign in with Uphiva in production, so an account made once travels.

Uphiva Ltd operates in Nigeria and Uphiva Inc is incorporated in Delaware. The software is built by Codesett.

Oust is the visibility piece. The group kept building products that were good and unknown, which is the ordinary condition of software built in Lagos or Nairobi or Accra, and the honest answer turned out not to be better marketing but a market: somewhere attention has a published price and anyone can see what the position above them cost.
